Life's Blueprint
I’ve spent countless days—probably even years—chasing the perfect blueprint for life, convinced that somewhere out there was a foolproof plan to follow.
The simple realization that I have come to is, there isn’t one. There isn’t a perfect formula or one-size-fits-all all model for an ideal life (whatever ideal may be to you).
This is frightening yet comforting to me. The uncertainty is frightening and the idea that we are all in the same boat is comforting. Sure we all come from different walks of life but at the end of the day, this is the first time any of us are doing life.
Life is difficult to navigate, understand, and endure at times. It’s a series of trials. Some will succeed and others will fail miserably. How can you enjoy the good without the bad though?
I think it's important to take as you go through life but never fully copy. You can take various attributes of someone you admire, but you don’t need to become them or resonate with everything that they say or do. You have unique traits and curiosities that you must bring to life and explore. You owe it to yourself. In fact, I think If we were able to lay out what we’re truly capable of in front of us, a lot of us would be surprised. Just be you unapologetically.
How one person did something is almost certainly not how you’re going to do it and vice versa.
We oftentimes fall into the trap of comparison which sometimes leads to self-doubt. I have struggled with this. However, I now try to take a step back and assess the situation or person I’m comparing myself to. I ask myself things like, is that something I really want or NEED; does it align with my values? Maybe it’s a romanticized life that isn’t actually what it's made out to be. I have found that it’s important to take things you see with a grain of salt. Experiment and see for yourself if it’s something you really desire.
For now, I am trying to lean into my curiosities more so, experiment with different routines, and have a more open mind. After all, we don’t know everything there is to know and that is okay.
