Living MY life

Embracing an Unconventional Path

I think it’s natural to feel paralyzed when considering a life that goes against society’s “normal.” But what’s the worst that could really happen? I think about that question a good bit nowadays. It’s a solid question to ask your self when making big decisions that might affect your life. I often imagine working on idea after idea, experiencing failure after failure—until, one day, one idea succeeds. Because really, all it takes is one and when that moment comes, I believe it will have made the choice to follow your curiosity all that much more worth it. However, It starts with the courage to break away from the norms, let go of some comfort, and embrace a new vision of what life could be.

To do this, I think you must:

  • Be willing to disappoint some people.

  • Say no when needed.

  • Be somewhat selfish with your life.

If you don’t take control of your life, someone or something else will. Life is about finding your morals and values, then making decisions that align with them.

The Imperfection of Plans

In a dysfunctional world, there is no perfect path. no one size fits all plan. I haven’t found one at least. Trying to follow a "perfect" plan is foolish because such a plan doesn’t exist. Instead, it may be more practical to make decisions by asking a couple of questions:

  1. Is this taking me closer to my values and goals or moving me further away?

  2. Is this making me more like the people I admire or less like them?

In today’s age of abundant information, it’s critical to have a solid filter.

  • Discern the good opinions from the bad.

  • Hear people out, but don’t waste time dwelling on unworthy ideas.

  • Focus only on what aligns with your true desires.

Only you know what you truly desire out of this life and it would be a huge mistake to not explore what could have been.

Taking the Leap

Again…

Ask yourself: What is the absolute worst thing that could happen if I take the leap?
If you can stomach that, I don’t see taking the leap as an unreasonable thing to do.

Living Your Story

I think Life is about living a great story—your story. I don’t want to settle for mediocrity or someone else’s script. I want to be intentional, genuine, and authentic with my life.

Life should be an atlas of adventure.
